Why Doesn't the Impact View Show in Performance Center?

Performance Center Side Screen View Issue

Overview

This material is an instructional explanation addressing why a specific view (impact location with club image) is unavailable on side screens in the Performance Center software, and how to work around this limitation.

Main Idea

  • Issue: The Performance Center does not prompt users to select a club, which prevents certain data views (those requiring a club image) from being displayed on side screens.

  • Workaround: Users can still access all relevant shot data in numeric form, but not with the club image overlay.

Key Points

  • Why the Issue Occurs:

    • The system only asks for shot distance, not the club used.

    • Views like "impact location" require a club selection to display the correct club image.

    • Without a club selected, the system cannot display the view and returns a "no club is selected" error.

  • Available Data Without Club Selection:

    • Users can still view key metrics such as:

      • Club path

      • Face angle

      • Face to path

      • Dynamic loft

      • Attack angle

      • Spin loft

      • Impact offset (heel/toe location)

      • Impact height (vertical location on clubface)

      • Club speed

      • Ball speed

      • Smash factor

    • These are available as numeric data tiles but not as a visual overlay on a club image.

  • How to Access Data:

    • In extended screen settings, select only the desired data metrics.

    • The order of data tiles matches the order in which they are selected.

    • Impact location data (offset and height) is still shown numerically.

    • Additional windows can display video, dispersion, or other data types, but views requiring a club image will still show the "no club selected" error.

  • System Limitation:

    • The limitation is due to the software's design, possibly to streamline use when randomizing shots/distances.

    • Changing clubs physically does not update the software unless the club is manually selected, which the Performance Center does not prompt for.

Important Concepts

  • Data Tiles vs. Club Image View: Numeric data is always available, but club-specific visualizations require explicit club selection.

  • Impact Offset/Height: 0/0 is the center of the clubface; values indicate heel/toe or high/low strikes.

  • Software Workflow: The Performance Center prioritizes simplicity over detailed club tracking, which can limit certain visual feedback.

Key Takeaways

  • The "impact location" and similar views need a club to be selected in the system for proper display.

  • All shot data can still be reviewed numerically, even if the club image is missing.

  • To maximize use, set up data tiles for all desired metrics and use additional windows for other forms of analysis (e.g., video).

Review Questions

  • Why does the Performance Center not display the club image on certain views?

  • What data can you still access without selecting a club?

  • How can you customize the extended screen to show the most relevant shot data?

This summary should assist in understanding the limitations and possible solutions for viewing shot data in the Performance Center.

Hey Brent, let me just show you real quick why you're not be able to get that um view that you want on the side screens. So in the performance center, the trick is the the trick or the problem really is that it doesn't ask you for a club.

So when you come in here and set this up however you normally would set it up, all you do is choose a distance and it doesn't have you choose the club.

So the problem is those two views that you like when we go to extended screen and you want impact impact location they require a club I think mostly because they put a picture of the club on there right whether it's a driver wood hybrid or iron and when you don't pick the club they don't know the system doesn't know what picture to put so it just gives you an error so what you get is you get this uh error if I switch over to that other screen, you get this no club is selected.

That's the problem. So, let me show you a way to kind of fix that. Um, the way to fix that would be you can still get the data. You just can't see the picture of the of it. So, what I would do if I wanted to see that is I would come in here and if you go to extended screens instead of choosing the impact.

So, the impact, this one's going to give you like club path, face angle, face to path, spin, attack angle, all of those. And this one's going to give you impact location. All those numbers are going to be available. But the only way you're going to be able to see it is to do it with numbers.

So, if you come in here to the settings and we set up if you uncheck them, it'll and start over, it'll put them in the order that you check them. So you could put um So you could put uh club path, face angle, face to path, dynamic loft, and we could also put in there then attack angle.

And if you want spin loft, we could put in spin loft like that. And then these two impact offset impact height will show you where on the face of the club you hit the ball.

So 00 Z be the middle impact offset to the heel and then you could add any of these other ones that you want like if you want to put in you know club speed, ball speed, smash factor for example.

Then what'll happen is when you get that um we don't when you after you save that and I come back to that other screen I don't have any data in here to show you but if I come back to that other screen now you have the data points here club path face angle you just don't have it in that picture so then in this other window you could put something else like you could put video or Um, I don't know if you can put swing plane.

I think it does the same problem. No club selected. So, but you can put video or dispersion or side top or something like that. So, or you could just uh you could just the other option would be you could just stretch it out and put a bunch of data tiles in there.

But that's the reason you're not getting that view that you like in this performance center because it doesn't ask you for a club. So, it's kind of a shortcoming in their setup. I don't know why.

I guess it's because if you're doing this randomizer, then it's going to give you different distances and you'd have to change the club for every shot. Even though you're changing the club physically, you'd also have to change it in the system. And Trackman doesn't really care. It just gives you the data on the shot.

So, anyway, that's what's going on.
